Australia has made great progress in flattening the curve of COVID-19 cases, but we still need to be cautious and we are taking important steps to protect our community, and to support our members.

Supporting your recovery

There are two areas where the AICD will focus its efforts to support members.

Firstly, we will defer all membership renewal fees that fall due between 1 April and 30 June this year.

If your membership is due for renewal during this period, you will continue to have normal access to all your member subscriptions, resources including complimentary member webinars and tools, and the Company Director magazine.

If you are concerned about your ability to pay your membership dues in the future, please speak with your Membership Partner.

If you have opted to auto-renew, this remains unchanged unless you update your account via My Site. If you wish to pay your membership renewal now or opt to auto-renew, please do so also via My Site.

Secondly, we are realigning our services in response to this crisis and focusing on practical guidance to support and guide you through to recovery. This includes:

Our members are responding to this approach and we are seeing a significant uplift in demand for our COVID related content and resources; more than 100,000 people have viewed our content and close to 9,000 people have registered for our webinars.

Business Centres Member Lounge, face-to-face courses and events

Given restrictions on public gatherings, our Business Centres and Member Lounges will remain closed until 30 June, and our planned face-to-face courses and events for the same period will also be deferred until future dates can be confirmed.

Our team of Membership Partners is working to contact all those who were registered for a face-to-face course or event during this period to arrange the best alternative.

We are also pleased to confirm that many of those affected by course deferments will have access to a virtual version of our flagship Company Directors Course and Foundations of Directorship course.

We are fast tracking the development of online versions of these courses to meet demand and which will be available to all members.

Financial sustainability

Face-to-face director development and education is at the core of the AICD. It has placed a significant financial strain on the organisation to defer these programs.

We are fortunate that the AICD has been well-managed over many years. We have the resources to navigate this crisis, and to continue to serve you now and into the future.

We have made difficult but necessary decisions on staffing levels while some activities of the AICD are curtailed. AICD’s Managing Director and CEO has volunteered a 25 per cent reduction in salary, and the AICD Executive Committee have volunteered 20 per cent. The Senior Leadership Team of the Institute also have volunteered significant salary reductions. Our board receives no director fees in line with our constitution.

The AICD’s vision has never been more important: “To strengthen society through world-class governance”.

Our members bring this vision to life in the work that they do.

We are here to support you to rebuild our community and economy.
