While Australia continues to make great progress in responding to the COVID-19 crisis, the AICD intends to maintain a cautious approach and prioritise the health and safety of our staff, members, faculty and visitors. Our services will resume only when we are confident we can meet all the requirements of a COVIDSafe environment.

AICD and COVID-19: Information for members, clients, faculty and stakeholders

In light of the ongoing COVID-19 restrictions, we are taking a cautious approach to resuming face-to-face activities. This page contains information about the steps we will take as we continue to prioritise the health and safety of our staff, members, clients, faculty and all other stakeholders.

Resumption of face-to-face courses

Face-to-face courses are being run in all states except for Victoria. Victorian members scheduled to attend a course in July and August have been contacted to arrange a suitable alternative, including the Company Directors Course Online.

We will gradually reschedule deferred face-to-face events as restrictions ease and room capacity becomes available. We will release further details as dates are confirmed.

Business Centre Member Lounges (Lounges)

Our Lounges in all locations except Victoria are reopening with limited capacity, providing a COVIDSafe environment for our members, guests and staff.

Room bookings within our Lounges may be available upon request. Please direct your enquiries to the relevant state office.

The health and safety of our members, guests, stakeholders and guests is our priority. Our lounges will be subject to stringent health protocols, including: capacity restrictions to meet social distancing requirements in each location; complimentary face-masks on-site; and additional cleaning throughout the day in all facilities.

All Lounge attendees will be required to complete a digital sign-in to confirm they meet our COVIDSafe requirements and support effective contact tracing if required.

Safety measures

For those attending face-to-face courses, strict protocols and safety measures will be in place, including:

  • Sanitation stations will be set up across our offices and venue spaces for easy access;
  • Social distancing and health protocols will be implemented; and
  • The AICD’s staff will continue to work from home if they can, minimising the number of people at the AICD’s premises.

Helping our members through this crisis

We continue to work hard to realign our services and to ensure membership with the AICD helps you respond to the challenges presented.

We have seen strong demand for our resources and record enrolments in our online courses, and we remain focused on providing practical guidance to support you and your organisation through the recovery.

Our resources include:

  • Regular webinars – access your complimentary webinars (live or recorded) for timely and interactive updates.
  • Online tools and resources – find the answers you need by exploring our online articles, tools and governance FAQs on our COVID-19 resource hub.
  • Magazine to your door – Company Director magazine is a comprehensive review of rapidly changing governance. You can also access the Company Director magazine online
  • Governance practice guides – guides to best-practice in the boardroom are prepared in collaboration with other leading organisations, such as the recently released Impacts of COVID-19 on annual report disclosures: a guide for directors, preparers and auditors.
  • Micro-courses – we have launched a series of complimentary micro-courses to help members upskill quickly and navigate the crisis and recovery.
  • Events – we are hosting regular virtual events and will soon announce details for our flagship complimentary member event – the Essential Director Update.
  • Professional development – plan and track of your professional development with Director Professional Development units.
  • Advocacy – we are advocating to government and regulators on behalf of members on critical issues such as funding and regulatory support for NFPs and charities and temporary regulatory relief in the COVID-19 environment.

Company Directors Course Online

We recently launched the Company Directors Course Online, complementing the face-to-face and self-paced formats of our flagship program. The different course formats are designed to provide you with choice and flexibility based on your learning style, location and schedule. The Company Directors Course Online includes faculty and learning support to induct and guide you through the program, live sessions with fellow participants and a “Meet the Director” session where one of Australia's leading directors will discuss their directorship journey and how your experiences in the classroom can be applied in today’s evolving governance environment.
