The Australian Institute of Company Directors (AICD) has announced the 130 recipients of its governance scholarship for leaders of small not-for-profit organisations.

The scholarship recipients, from right across Australia, will attend the AICD’s highly-regarded Governance Foundations for Not-for-Profit Directors program.

This year a total of 802 applications were considered, an increase from 734 last year.

ALLOCATION OF SCHOLARSHIPS

Total 130

Successful applicants are from a wide variety of sectors including the arts, education and research, professional associations, employment, housing, environmental, animal welfare, health, social services, and law.

COVID-19 and last summer’s bushfire season saw an increased strain on the NFP sector, which was reflected in the AICD’s recent NFP Governance and Performance Study which revealed that many organisations were facing considerable financial challenges even before these crises.

AICD Managing Director and CEO, Angus Armour said, “NFP organisations are a vital part of society and are under enormous pressure to deliver services to communities across Australia.

“I’m proud that the AICD continues to support future and current NFP leaders.”

Scholarships form part of the AICD’s strong commitment to the NFP sector.
