Company Directors Course for Indigenous Business Leaders

Applications are open for the Indigenous Business Leaders Program 2021, a collaboration between the AICD, Perpetual and the Australian Scholarships Foundation (ASF).

Seventeen scholarships are available for Indigenous leaders to attend the Company Directors Course in Perth next year.

Program overview

The Indigenous Business Leaders Program is designed to develop the governance expertise of Indigenous directors and executives around Australia.

There program includes funding for 13 partial scholarships (40%) and four full scholarships to attend the AICD’s Company Directors Course, plus a half-day workshop to prepare for the course assessment and free membership with the AICD for one year.

Travel and/or accommodation expenses are covered by the successful candidate or their organisation.

Applications are open from Tuesday 15 December 2020 and close on Wednesday 3 February 2021.

Who should apply?

We encourage you to apply if you:

  • Identify as Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander;
  • Are an Australian citizen or permanent resident;
  • Are a new or existing chair, non-executive director, public official or senior executive reporting to a board, from publicly listed, private, government or NFP sectors; and
  • Are looking to take your performance in governance to the next level.

International scholarships

Not-for-Profit scholarships

Applications for the 2020/21 NFP Scholarships Program closed on 12 November 2020. Successful are due to be notified in late December 2020.

The Australian Institute of Company Directors (AICD) is committed to improving society through world-class governance and the NFP Scholarships program is a key component of this commitment.

Each year the AICD makes scholarships available to the Australian Not-for-Profit sector in all states and territories, with the aim of supporting directors, senior managers, and emerging directors.

Successful applicants will undertake the Governance Foundations for NFP Directors course, which provides participants with foundational-level knowledge of governance, specific to the NFP sector.

 

Northern Territory scholarships

The Northern Territory offers a range of scholarships each year to prospective company directors. Keep up-to-date with the current scholarships being offered here.

NT Government through Dept Industry, Tourism and Trade are pleased to be working with the Australian Institute of Company Directors to make a positive impact on the business community through director development. 

20 Business Owners will be offered a scholarship to participate in this AICD program specifically designed to support NT-owned Small to Medium business owners to unlock the growth and value through sustainable, strategic performance. 

We invite business owners to participate in the 2-day workshops through the SME Governance Program and form an ongoing, self-directed Network Group to help you step away from the day-to-day and focus on your role and responsibilities as a director of your business.

Through four interactive workshops and networking group, you will learn about the relevant governance practices and how they can be applied to your business today to create sustainable value. 

Participants complete the program with a cohort of fellow business owners and the facilitator-led workshops provide the opportunity for attendees to connect, share knowledge and learn from each other.
