On 3 November 2017, the AICD provided a submission regarding the exposure draft of the Treasury Laws Amendment (Whistleblowers) Bill 2017 (the Bill).
The Bill proposes a number of improvements to the whistleblowing framework including extending protections to additional categories of person and strengthening protections against reprisals. However, the AICD has raised some concerns regarding proposals in the Bill which may detract from the successful operation of the framework and has made recommendations about how these issues could be addressed.
