An important part of the role of a director in governing an organisation is navigating complex ethical issues that impact on board decision-making. In October 2019, the Australian Institute of Company Directors and The Ethics Centre released a Guide to support directors in considering ethical issues as they discharge their duties.
The Guide may be used:
as a general resource for directors;
to identify specific areas for strengthening a board’s capacity in relation to ethics; and
to inform conversations about the ethical dimensions of complex issues encountered by directors and the board.
Simon Longstaff AO, Executive Director of The Ethics Centre, spoke to the Governance Leadership Centre about the Guide.
