    Current

The Not-for-Profit Governance and Performance Study, now in its eighth year, examines the critical issues facing Australia’s not-for-profit (NFP) sector.

The study, conducted through an online survey and focus groups held across Australia, highlights the governance challenges facing this very diverse sector and also explores some of the opportunities available to organisations during a time of massive change. The 2017 survey and focus groups looked at NFP culture, risk management, reserves and financial strength, and the importance of reputation management.

Join our NFP sector leader Phil Butler GAICD and practicing NFP director and researcher Penny Knight MAICD of Baxter Lawley for a webinar on 20 September (a recording will also be available) to hear the results of the 2017 study and what the implications are for your organisation.

    International Company Directors Course

Working across multiple jurisdictions presents unique governance challenges for directors and senior executives. Managing risk, understanding duties and responsibilities, and overseeing company finances take on another dimension when operating across borders.

The AICD’s International Company Directors Course™ is a four-day course that prepares directors and senior executives, operating across countries and regions, to meet these challenges. The course examines issues such as the international legal environment and establishing organisational culture, and includes analysis of several international case studies.

A facilitator with real-world international governance experience guides participants through the program, creating an engaging and immersive learning environment to bring the material to life.

Delivered in Singapore, Hong Kong, Dubai and Shanghai, the course is suitable for anyone who works or is planning to work in an international context.

    Essential Director Update 2017

Good governance relies on directors, business leaders and governance professionals being up-to-date with legislative changes, business developments and industry trends. The annual Essential Director Update – now in its 11th year – is our largest complimentary event and is an exclusive benefit for all members. It is designed to inform you about the latest issues that directly impact your duties and responsibilities.

Last year, more than 5,000 members joined us for events held across Australian capital cities and regional centres. This year the Essential Director Update will travel to more places than ever before with a refreshed and engaging format.

We are pleased to announce the return of distinguished director Graham Bradley AM FAICD as keynote speaker. In addition to Bradley’s expert insights, AICD’s Chief Economist, Stephen Walters MAICD, will provide an update on the economy and its impact on Australian businesses and boardrooms. The event will conclude with an audience Q&A – a highlight of previous years.

The Essential Director Update will be run throughout October and November.

Be sure to register to become informed, stay ahead and make connections.
