Tuesday, 23 February 2021

The Australian Institute of Company Directors (AICD) has announced two new scholarships for Indigenous business leaders and business leaders in regional, rural and remote areas.

The scholarship programs form part of the AICD’s commitment to build the capability of leaders across the country, from all sectors and communities.

The new scholarships are being offered to Indigenous and regionally-based directors, executives, and prospective directors.

A total of 40 recipients will receive governance training with the AICD commencing in June 2021. They will also receive one year of membership with the AICD.

  • The 2020/21 Indigenous Leaders Scholarship Program will enable 20 recipients to undertake the Company Directors Course Online.
  • The 2020/21 Regional Leaders Scholarship Program will enable 20 recipients to undertake the Foundations of Directorship Online.

AICD Managing Director and CEO, Angus Armour, said, “We’re pleased to offer these scholarships for participation in courses that can be accessed online from anywhere, especially at a time when long-distance travel has been made more difficult due to COVID-19.

“We are focused on supporting Indigenous leadership and governance, and leadership in regional, rural and remote areas, in keeping with the mission of the AICD to strengthen society through world-class governance.”
