This year the AICD is offering 200 scholarships for leaders of small not-for-profit organisations across Australia.
Successful applicants undertake the highly regarded Governance Foundations for NFP Directors program.
Directors of small NFP organisations (annual turnover of $2 million or less), or aspiring directors: executives or senior managers of NFP organisations, are encouraged to apply.
AICD CEO and Managing Director, Angus Armour said the additional scholarships are consistent with the AICD’s mission to strengthen society through world-class governance.
“This program aims to provide access to high quality education for current directors of small NFP organisations and aspiring directors with a passion and commitment to the sector.
“Given the critical services that NFP organisations deliver to our community, the AICD is proud to support additional capacity building in this critical sector.”
The scholarships form part of the AICD’s strong commitment to the NFP sector which has faced repeated challenges in the last few years.
The AICD’s 2020 NFP Governance and Performance Study
highlighted that COVID-19 was particularly difficult for the sector with a rapid rise of Australians unexpectedly finding themselves in need of support, coinciding at a time when the sector itself was facing severe and unexpected pressures.
Since the introduction of the NFP Scholarship Program in 2017, the AICD has supported more than 400 NFP sector leaders through governance training.
Applications for the program are now open and close on Friday, 20 August 2021.
