John Hopkins OAM FAICD

Chairman, Golf Australia

Mr Hopkins has been admitted to practise as a lawyer for more than 40 years and over the past 30 years been a board member or chairman of more than 25 public listed companies both in Australia and Canada.

These companies have predominantly been resource based but have included wine and animal pharmaceuticals. Projects have been located in countries as diverse as Russia, Mongolia and Ukraine to Australia and England.

At the same time and since 1985 Mr Hopkins has been involved in the administration of golf at a Club, State, National and International level. As such he has had the opportunity to sit on international governing bodies and referee in many major championships with players from Arnold Palmer to Tiger Woods.

For the past six years he has been Chair of Golf Australia (the game’s governing body in Australia) and will share his NSO governance experiences and other stories from his long involvement. Mr Hopkins was awarded the Medal of the Order of Australia (OAM) in January 2015 for services to golf and the minerals and resources sector.

As a Fellow of the Australian Institute of Company Directors, you are one of Australia’s most experienced directors and influential members of society.

Let's celebrate

In recognition of this role, the WA Division President and Council are pleased to invite you to the 8th Annual Fellows’ Dinner with John Hopkins OAM FAICD, as the 2017 keynote speaker.

John will reflect on his experience as a director and chair of over 25 public listed companies both in Australia and Canada. He will share his passion for golf at a local and international level, and discuss the governance behind the sport.

Join us as we recognise your unique contribution to Western Australia, re-connect with colleagues and peers over a sumptuous three course dinner with fine West Australian Fermoy Estate wines, and entertainment provided by the students from Western Australian Performing Arts, (WAAPA) in partnership with the Jackman Furness Foundation.

Please note that this event is open only to Fellows of the AICD and their partners / wives / husbands.
