Understanding the importance of ESG in the boardroom.

Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) Criteria is again becoming a big corporate focus as a new generation of investors looking to make a positive difference are taking rise. This focus on responsible investing is impacting corporate governance and boards need directors who understand ESG and how their organisation should engage the market on it.

Dr Ulysses Chioatto, adjunct Associate Professor of Law at Western Sydney University and a former head of Institutional Shareholder Services in Australia, will lead an insightful discussion on:

  • Is Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) dead? Has it been subsumed into the boom in Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG)? What are the differences between CSR and ESG?
  • The increasing importance of sustainability and the company’s strategy narrative
  • Where does corporate reputation and trust fit into the ESG boom?
  • What are the key areas of focus for the institutional investors?

These are important questions for directors to discuss to help them understand where this trend is headed as the market puts more emphasis on ESG in assessing company performance.
