John Meacock is Chief Strategy Officer (CSO) for Deloitte Australia and the Asia Pacific region. In his Australian role, John is responsible for developing and overseeing the implementation of the firm’s strategy including a significant transformation to new business models. This includes responsibility for driving innovation across the firm, and leading the IP Factory – an ideas refinery developing new solutions, services or products, and advising on strategic mergers, acquisitions and alliances.
As CSO for the Asia Pacific region, John is responsible for developing plans for the future growth and structure of the region.
Appointed as Vice-Chairman of Deloitte’s Global Board in 2016, John’s role is to provide corporate governance advice, and to represent the Australian firm at the Global forum. John is also a member of the Global Board’s Composition and Risk Committees.
John has spent the past decade focused on corporate governance and he has built deep connections with the top non-executive directors in this country through creating Thought Leadership such as the Directors Cut, an interview and thought leadership program where he interviews 100 of Australia’s leading Chairs and CEO’s on the issues facing the top end of Corporate Australia. He is also a co-author of the ‘Building the Lucky Country’ series which has become the leading thought leadership publication in Australia, addressing issues impacting Australia’s future prosperity.
John is the firm’s Advisory Partner on Telstra (Australia’s largest Telco) and the Commonwealth Bank of Australia (Australia’s largest financial institution).
The youngest of four brothers, John was born in Bruce Rock, Western Australia. He has two children. A keen sportsman, John had a long career in hockey and over the last couple of years has taken up long-distance running. John loves to travel extensively and has an appreciation for art.
John is an Independent Chairman for The Brett Whiteley Foundation, and sits on the Board of the Asia Society Australia.
