Women Entrepreneurs Program for Established Businesses

The Women Entrepreneurs Program for Established Businesses, funded by the Australian Government’s Office for Women, is focused on ensuring the future economic stability and sustainability of the businesses of women entrepreneurs.

The program is targeted at female entrepreneurs seeking to scale-up their businesses through increased investment and financial opportunities. The program is focused solely on women with established businesses, not those in the start-up stage.

The aim of the program is to provide opportunities for women to:

  • Learn about the governance implications of scaling-up their businesses. This includes:
    • The difference between advisory boards and full governance boards;
    • How to effectively communicate a business’s potential to advisors and investors;
    • The business owner versus the director perspective and
  • Understand financials through a governance lens and what investors and externals want to see presented in the financials.

The program will provide the opportunity for 50 women entrepreneurs (25 in Sydney and 25 in Melbourne), to participate in online and face-to face elements over a 12-month period.

This program is only open to participants in Sydney and Melbourne due to the nature of the workshops (face-to-face) which are compulsory to attend. Applicants from New South Wales and Victoria are welcome to apply if they fund their own travel costs to Sydney and Melbourne for the two workshops.

The scholarship recipients will also receive 12 months membership of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.

The program will run from 1 October 2019 to the 31 October 2020.
