What will you learn?

Participants will gain an understanding of the fundamental roles and responsibilities of the boards of sporting organisations, both in terms of compliance and performance, specifically in the areas of governance, financial performance, strategy and risk.

Upon completion of the Sports Governance program, you will be able to:

  • Identify the key duties and responsibilities of directors in a sports context

  • Appreciate the potential personal liability of directors

  • Understand the governance structures that are in place, or should be, at a sports organisation

  • Consider the differences and similarities of the director’s role in the sports context compared to other organisation

  • Understand the role of directors in overseeing the strategy formulation and risk management approach of the organisation

  • Review financial statements of the sporting organisation

  • Understand the link between governance, financial performance, strategy and success on the field
