David Evans FAICD


David Evans has over 30 years senior banking and finance experience across Australia and in the Asia-Pacific region. His executive positions with Westpac included Chief Manager Fiji Islands, Chief Credit Officer Western Australia and Senior Manager Indigenous Banking, Western Australia.

David was also a director at KPMG in the financial risk advisory practice for two years in Perth, and was the president of the Fiji Australia Business Council prior to joining KPMG. He has developed a comprehensive understanding of banking services and operations, particularly in strategic leadership, financial analysis, sales management, business development, treasury processes, credit risk management and credit processes.

David has been active in the not-for-profit sector for a number years including as president and board director for the National Heart Foundation, WA Division, director of Transparency International Fiji, trustee of the Murdoch University Veterinary Trust and executive member of the Australian Institute of International Affairs.

He is currently an independent director of an indigenous trust in the Pilbara Region of WA, a non-executive director on the board of Aboriginal Hostels Limited (a Commonwealth Government owned entity) and a non-executive director of Vision Investments Ltd (one of the largest publically listed companies on the South Pacific Stock Exchange). David is also an independent member of the Queensland Police audit & risk committee.

As a management consultant, David is an accredited facilitator for the Australian Institute of Company Directors, delivering strategy, risk, finance and governance training programs for board directors as well as indigenous governance training. David has facilitated with the Australian Institute of Company Directors for eight years (since 2008) covering the Company Directors Course in Australia and internationally, as well as the International Foundations of Directorship in Asia, the Pacific and Middle East. He also facilitates the Applied Risk Governance short course and Indigenous Governance Program throughout Australia.

Held over two days and facilitated by experienced directors, this course will review and clarify your role as a director or board member, as well as re-affirm the governance and ethical expectations of board members. Additionally it will provide you with updates to the changes in governance, legal compliance, risk management, strategy implementation and board decision-making.

Who Should Attend?

This course is designed for participants who completed the Company Directors Course at least two or more years ago.

It also gives those who have attended the Company Directors Course, but not yet completed the assessment, an opportunity to do so.
