The Survey received 1,627 responses, of which 245 (15%) relate to listed companies, 732 (45%) to not-for-profit (NFP) organisations, and 650 (40%) to private enterprises. Public sector remuneration was not covered in the survey, as board fees are set by an independent Tribunal and are already publicly available.

The results of the survey have been compiled into a database, available exclusively to AICD members to benchmark their pay and evaluate how it compares to the average director fees of their peers.

All AICD members are eligible to request up to two complimentary extracts from the remuneration database. The extracts contain fee data in relevant “bands” for up to two board or board committee positions based on two of the following criteria. The criteria you select for your extract is up to you.

  Listed Private Enterprise NFP
Industry Segment[vi]
Total Assets
Market capitalisation X X
Net Assets X X
No. of Employees
No. of Volunteers X X
Total Revenue
Total Expenditure X X

For example: If you serve on both an NFP and listed company board, you could request fee data for your NFP directorship compared with other NFP directors on an NFP board that has a similar level of annual expenditure as your own organisation.

The fee data you elect for your listed company directorship could be based on market capitalisation.

Please note: These extracts relate to paid positions only. The proportion of unpaid directorships has been removed for the purpose of this service.

Request your remuneration data extract and find out how your pay compares.
