Certainty for NFPs and Charities

Wednesday, 01 April 2020

On 1 April, the AICD sent a letter to Senator the Hon Zed Seselja (Assistant Minister for Finance, Charities and Electoral Matters) outlining the need for an urgent government relief package for the NFP sector.

Increased demand for services, decreased donations, loss of access to volunteers, inability to hold fundraising events and in some cases significant loss of operating revenues are other examples of the difficulties this sector is facing.

In short, the AICD wants comprehensive measures to support their financial sustainability and a clear and nationally consistent regulatory approach. We believe directors (many of whom are volunteers) and senior management should be focused on providing services to their vulnerable clients, looking after employees and volunteers, and maintaining relationships with stakeholders.

A version of the attached has been shared with state and territory governments.
