Stephen joins the AICD with more than two decades of experience as an economist in both Australia and the UK and was previously Chief Economist for Australia and New Zealand for investment bank JP Morgan.

“Stephen’s background as a leading economist will allow the AICD to offer its members greater insight into the issues that impact their decisions as directors. It will also give the AICD greater capacity to influence conversations about significant national and economic reform,” said John Brogden, Managing Director & Chief Executive Officer of the AICD.

The new role and appointment will allow the AICD to expand its contribution to policy debate and provide you with greater insights into the issues that impact your decisions and your organisations more broadly.

“Many economic issues have a direct impact on boardroom decisions, including Australia’s fiscal position and need for national reforms to address it. The impact of China’s rapid transformation and globalisation generally are also of paramount importance,” Stephen Walters said.

“It is imperative that the AICD participate in conversations about such issues and I look forward to speaking on its behalf.”
